This book started off so strong. Then something happened after the road trip that slowed the pace way too much too many mundane problems kept happening that didn’t allow the characters to work it out. It was almost like a reverse slow burn but nonetheless, I truly enjoyed it. This book has really great banter. I think my favorite banter was when they were on the road trip but the steamy scenes were really delightful as well. I like the way, Mimi Grace writes friend groups. She makes you feel like you’re in there making fun of your fellow friends as well.

I enjoyed this, the development in Jojo and Jasons relationship didn’t feel rushed or too slow, it was just right.

Jason was whipped-but-in-denial from the start and I love that

“He looked so…disarmingly handsome. He’d removed his shoes and slouched in the chair with his legs crossed at the ankles. An image of him in that exact pose in her own apartment sprung into her mind, and she quickly filed it in a mental drawer called ‘Things That Will Destroy You.’”⁣

This was an enjoyable romance with two very likable leads. Jolene is effusive and brash and fun. Jason is dependable, staid, and calm. She is still finding herself despite success in her field. He is established in his dentistry practice, but needs to learn to live a little. They are the perfect opposites attract who complement one another, making each other better. ⁣

The sex was HOT. The banter was great. At one point there is ONLY ONE BED. I love to see it. ⁣

My only complaint was the villain of the story, a guy that won’t take no for an answer from our girl, never gets his comeuppance. It was a glaring miss for me because the douche nozzle really deserved something bad to happen to him. ⁣

But the romance was so good, I’ll overlook it. ⁣

Do you have a favorite romance trope?
