parts of this book i really liked and some of it was hard to push through, it's not very plot driven so it's hard to get hooked onto it but i did like the themes of womanhood. sometimes i thought it was just gory for the sake of being gory, like i didn't get a strong sense of passion from the narrator. it almost felt like the planning notes of Hval's novel had been bound together and published before they were ready.

She's definitely a massively talented writer as there are some really well written passages of the book but I didn't really get the feeling that there was i strong idea behind the book. It was an interesting read but I don't think I'll read it again and probably wouldn't read Paradise Rot unless it's massively different?

Ah! Gorgeous prose, a black metal fever dream. But this is the perfect example of an author constantly tripping over themselves.

"An insult to the brain" – I'd genuinely rather read Raymond Carver

Kinda boring? Not much attachment for the main character and it was very repetitive. Whilst I understand this reflects the main character's way of thinking and process of writing, it would have been easier to read through if it was occasionally broken up with longer dialogues.
