I hated this so much. I've been a fan of every other book in the series and I was so excited for this one, but it was terrible, start to finish - plot, characters, everything.
(And side note - why the f*ck is the author so obsessed with independent businesses? Every one of her heroines has or is planning to have her own business. It's f*cking bizarre. Some people work for other people AND THAT IS OKAY. I felt like there was some weird career-shaming subtext going on. Not cool.)

How is this book #8 available on Amazon but NO Book #7 [b:Kostya|20440245|Kostya (Her Russian Protector, #7)|Roxie Rivera|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1415059301l/20440245._SY75_.jpg|30913505]? What am I missing? Doesn't the #7 come before the #8 anymore?

I was trying to revive my old love of mafia romances. I remember loving this series when I was younger but it just didn't hold up this time around. :/

I do like the world Roxie Rivera has created, her heroes are usually the right amount of dominant. But I didn't connect to Alexei and Shay as much as previous characters. Perhaps it's because there was such a wait between books but I think it is because they're so new to the world, with Alexei only really mentioned in previous books. I also found Shay too weak. She rarely stood up for herself and allowed people to treat her like another of Alexei's mistresses, and a stupid one at that. She would have her moments where she was going to stand up for self but then would be easily told to keep quiet and know her place. Stas really was beginning to annoy me with his attitude.
I think Roxie needs to create a family tree of sort since it has been so long since the last book. There were characters mentioned who I couldn't remember who they were or how they were connected in the world. It also needs better editing, too many easy mistakes; wrong names and pronouns used, and random letters at the beginning of a sentence for example.

This could’ve been so much better. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t like that it all happened over the course of a few days. That made it feel rushed and there were a lot of communication issues between everyone. I just wish it had a few more chapters between events and that it didn’t end so abruptly.

First of all I thought it was really brave of the author to release this book after dealing with some very serious health issues which must have dealt a blow to her confidence as a writer. The book... I loved it.
Although I don't like the ethics of men like Alexei in regards to women and relationships, he genuinely comes to love Shay and makes so many mistakes I started to feel sorry for him. LOL. And Stas really didn't help with his 'advice'.
Lots of news from others we have read about and some we are looking forward to learning more about.
A few times I felt there was too much detail but the storyline was fantastic, I thought it was going to be a rerun of Ivan and Erin with the ex fighter and girl with the wayward sister but it was far more than that.
