The majority of these stories were not horror to me as much as psychological and suspenseful. They were still good stories, but did so much explaining about the phenomena that there was nothing for my fear to complete.

The outstanding exception and star of this anthology was "Where's the harm" by Rebecca Lloyd- terrifying and haunting images. I am determined to read her other stories now.

Datlow’s annual Year’s Best series is consistently good, if possible getting better every year. I suppose that simply reflects the continuously increasing quality of short horror fiction being written today. This latest volume is outstanding.
