Found the end of this much better than the beginning. Realistic description of an NHS in crisis. My version was audible, didn’t like the narration at all.

Midwives deserve better!
This book was joyful and equally heartbreaking. We as a country have a long way to go in making our midwives feel appreciated for the wonderful work that they do.
The things that Pippa went through were brutal. She did not deserve what happened to her, and this book is a true testament to how undervalued our midwives are.
Hopefully this book will inspire the change that is so desperately needed.

The writing was a bit dull but the insight into 'Pippa''s everyday life made it worth it. HOWEVER. I felt that there was sometimes quite a lack of empathy for some mothers, the main example being the Polish factory worker. I know abandoning a baby in the toilet is horrible, but the midwife was very quick to dismiss the other factors at play in this young woman's life. It's been a month since I've finished this book, and it still doesn't sit right with me.
