This is a fabulous true crime book that reads like a thriller. If you are a fan of HBO's The Wire, you will no doubt love this book. The creator fo The Wire spent a year with the Baltimore homicide department and gives an account of all the cases the detectives see throughout that year. What an amazing piece of work this is.

I read this because I loved Homicide: Life on the Street (on NBC in the mid to late 90s) and wanted to read the book that started it all. The book doesn't disappoint.
