Pretty good read. It reminded me lot of True Blood (the TV serie not the Sookie Stackhouse books). It was provocative. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

AN UNEXPECTED TREAT :-D

I really enjoyed this little freebie!!

Kade was hot and sexy, dangerous and honest, caring and domineering (and a vampire) 'Sydney love, look into my eyes. I want you to see the pleasure you bring me' - HOT RIGHT?!? ;-)

Sydney was headstrong, confident, fun but nervous with her heart.

The plot around the romance was an engaging and well paced crime/mystery of the supernatural variety. The subplot characters were well developed and endearing.
Yes Yes, very good :-D

I might have enjoyed this book a whole lot more had I liked the heroine. To me, she came across like a child constantly trying to prove that they’re old enough and tough enough to be part of the group of adults. She was TSTL when it came to Simone. The entire book I hoped for her abduction. I relished the possibility of being able to read about that psycho Simone catching and torturing her. I read until the 91% mark then threw in the towel. I just couldn’t find any fox to give at that point. I read most of the book on only about half a fox, so I was close to giving it up for most of the book. I’m hoping this author doesn’t write all of her heroines the same way, but I still don’t know if I’ll continue with this series.

OMG so freaking good!

Okay, most people will know by now that I love me some smut. Good smut, bad smut, weird smut - smut = smut guys. Now I'm also not going to lie about this book, it took me forever to finish. I did listen to the audio at work.. but it's like everyone and their mother needed to talk to me or get all up in my grill. I think it took me two days, maybe three, to finish this audio! Trust me, that's a long ass time.

In this book, you will meet Sydney. She's a detective in a world where supernaturals and humans coexist. Everyone knows everyone's business. Even if there's a murder or two involved. Which is where our girl steps in, because there's a string of mysterious murders happening in her city.

While on the job, she meets Kade. There's an obvious attraction and a smidge of sexual tension going on between these two. However, he's a vampire and she's a human - it doesn't stop them from getting together though. Which I'm so freaking happy that it didn't because I loved their relationship. The chemistry and the smut were AHMAZING. I would totally dive into the second book if I didn't have so many other books lined up right now. Maybe next month.

Overall, I loved this book and I wouldn't mind diving into more of this series. Especially if the smut keeps getting better.

A awesome read

I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest romance with a mystery thriller. A strong female with a take no shit attitude and a equally Strong Sexy Alpha make. They have lots of sexual tension and it escalated very well. I loved it!

I suppose it isn't fair to rate a book I couldn't finish...but then again, the reason I couldn't finish it is because clearly I didn't like it. I know allot of people love this book, so as always it comes down to personal taste.

I read the first chapter and found it to be painfully boring and something about the writing style just did not sit right with me. I love a tough heroine, and I have no problem with kinky sex and foul language...but in the first chapter I thought the heroine was simply a cliché of everything I dislike in testosterone overdosed male characters. First chapter, crime scene and our heroine Sydney is checking out Kade's "supernatural assets" and then her partner notices her checking out Kade's "assets" and comments on it and I thought for a moment I'd stumbled onto the set of "Animal House".

But allot of people REALLY like this book, and by all accounts so should I: vampires, voodoo and the sultry backdrop of New Orleans - definitely a few of my favorite things! So I dove into chapter 2, found it painfully boring and decided that skimming was a reasonable option. So I skimmed the rest of the book, HEA in case anyone cares.

I never cared for any of the characters, they all seemed fairly one dimensional, like cardboard cutouts. I never warmed up to Sydney. Kade was "blah" despite his "assets". The story while for all intents and purposes really should have been interesting was...meh. (Sort of reminded me just a little bit of the Angelique storyline from Dark Shadows). Anyway, not for me. But it was free so no harm, no foul.

Good storyline, but lacking

I enjoyed the storyline of this book, but it was missing a lot. First, for being an erotic paranormal story, the steamy scenes did not go far enough, not were there very many. Second, I just was not feeling the connection between Kade and Sydney. I think it just happened far too quickly and I just not a fan of Insta-love. I will not be continuing this series.

Kade's Dark Embrace
Immortal's of New Orleans book 1
By Kym Grosso

Well I have to say this is a interesting story but there were so many plots going on it was hard to keep track sometimes. It has Vampires, witches, werewolves and a Philadelphia human cop thrown in for good measure. The plot work some but I kept waiting for it to go just a little further to make it a good book.

I did however wonder about Tristen's back story and would be curious about his book but not sure if I'll read it.
