Does this count as a memoir? I don't really know what to call it because it really was more of a collection of anecdotes. I can't say it was lol funny, but there were some really interesting and amusing parts, mostly about other celebrities (looking at you, Tom Cruise and George Lucas), the process behind some of his movies (but annoyingly not the ones I did like lol), and his parents and grandparents who are a hoot.

This is by far the most unique audiobook I've had the pleasure of listening to! Full cast of over 80 people, plus sound effects, and a few parts that were clearly rewritten to fit the audio format. Not every story was a full hit for me so I couldn't give it the full 5. Honestly the whole experience is worth it just to learn about the crazy behind the scenes stuff from The Interview. Very fun read!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book! The narration was great and the production was fantastic. I love when sound effects are used in audiobooks. He’s a great story teller with funny stories and he knows it. You can hear him half-laugh at moments recalling some memories. I appreciated the bits of political content he dropped such as his privilege of consuming drugs as a white man and how rampant hatred on Twitter has real life consequences. Would recommend, particularly as an audiobook.

Honestly I’m shocked I liked this book so much because I don’t really love his movies, but after reading this I actually really like him as a person( as much as you can a celebrity). I honestly laughed a lot and learned about a lot of his background and history. What made me really enjoy this was his commentary on antisemitism and gun control and talking about prominent people like Kanye West and Trump which I found interesting. Also hearing about his different experiences with drugs was kind of fascinating. I still found the majority of his movies stupid though. He did bring up James Franco quite a few times and I’m not sure when his scandal happened and when this book was published but nothing was said about that which is kind of upsetting.

I've been a fan of Seth Rogen since I saw him in Superbad when I was 18. I find him funny, humble, insightful, and this audiobook really sealed that for me. Hearing him talk about growing up Jewish in Canada, his experiences with various drugs (including weed [of course], alcohol, mushrooms, and acid), introduction to porn, and the antisemitism he has faced first-hand was enlightening. His stories ranged from funny anecdotes about writing jokes for a mohel, to getting WAY too high on shrooms in Amsterdam, to the controversy of his film The Interview. It was especially fun to hear him tell stories and then recognize they were inspiration for certain movies (i.e. he and his friends filling a laundry detergent jug with beer after they stole a keg was referenced in Superbad).

This book isn't all laughs. In the Verification chapter, he talks about his efforts to get Twitter founder Jack Dorsey to de-amplify the voices of white supremacists and to un-verify anti-Semites. He also speaks of his thoughts on how alcohol is normalized, while drugs like weed are demonized and folks- primarily POC- are often excessively punished for using and selling it.

The book is endearing and the grammatical errors are there purposefully, to make it feel more conversational. There are even moments where Seth acknowledges the listener and mentions that in the book version, there is a picture of the thing or event he is describing. The full cast is phenomenal and it was so fun to listen and be able to point out cameos.
