Peculiar story about a little girl named Freda who wants to eat all of the fresh blueberries that she has picked with her Gran. When she realizes it's impossible to eat all of them (she was giving me a stomachache just looking at her eat a wagon full of berries! lol) Gran tells her that they can jar them up and save them to make blueberry jam. Once Freda realizes that she can jar all of her favorite things to keep for later, she begins putting in strange items, such as her best friend, Jack. When she finally persuades her Gran to get into one of her jars, things begin going downhill and Freda realizes how lonely she is without her. She releases Gran and they enjoy some toast with blueberry jam on it on a cold winter day. My favorite part was the recipe for blueberry jam in the back and the colorful illustrations.

loved the illustrations, but felt like the story was confusing - I felt like the character was collecting things and people, not memories, and the concept wasn't clearly presented

After picking blueberries with her grandma, a little girl decides to collect all the things she loves in mason jars to keep them safe and fresh. Cute and has a blueberry jam recipe at the end.

A little girl takes preserving things to a while level. In a way it's about learning to let go and enjoy things as they are. I wonder how her best friend survives.

Pleasant. And the art was fine. But there needed to be repercussions for jarring everything. Melted pops, stale cookies, mold. And you can't be jarring friends. And without this it took away from the rest of the book which was pretty good. So good idea, but could have been better.

Hold on to things you love forever

Would you want to keep the things that bring joy forever? I know I would, I don't want to forget anything. But if everything is in a jar, who would you make new memories with?

Such a kid feeling - I don't want anything to change ever - and learning that life is about change and memories. The same lesson as 'Inside Out' of how that hint of sadness makes memories all the sweeter.
