The first book that made me love philosophy, and that made me realise philosophy could be like love - a sudden violence that forces thought upon us, rather than the benevolent musings of a pipe-smoking beard-stroker as he charts methodologies from his armchair by the fire. A wonderful little book, an impulse towards art and life.

Not the easiest of reads (and this is supposed to be one of Deleuze's more 'accessible' works), but I totally dug this guy's thought process.

Deleuze's reading of the Search as a kind of sign-churning machine sucks all the humanity out of the novel and his skirmish with 'Platonism' doesn't appear to amount to much. While this study was apparently a radical reading of Proust's novel when it was first published, it has, alas, worn out its novelty.
