This book is just plain fun to read out loud and look at. (Of course, it helps if you have a sense of what Parker's music sounds like). Got it because it was on a list of 'perfect books to read for every age' -- I believe, in the NY Times, and one of the few children's books I was not familiar with -- also because my wife plays different forms of jazz for her preschool class. Enjoy!

I love this book. You absolutely have to find the rhythm and talk-sing it.

Great book for visuals and making fun sounds, playing with words that sounds like musical sounds the story works great for younger kids who like to imitate sounds

This would be a perfect bedtime book for a small child. I wasn't thrilled with the story, but I would imagine that a small child would enjoy the rhythm of the book. It was short and I'm not really sure why the cat was involved the book at all.
