Silent Heart is not for the faint hearted. The author has ample evidence to support his claim, and admits when studies may be biased or otherwise misleading. The author's love for bugs shines through, and the little factoids are so fascinating to me.
The book is very heavy, though - the climate crisis is no joke, and it's hard to read. The facts interspersed between chapters are welcome but not enough to distract from the heaviness of the topic.
Once the book gets to part 4, it definitely starts to fall apart. The fictional section is so bizarre and unnecessary. The following section doesn't actually provide any actionable steps, weirdly blames fat people for being part of the problem while ignoring the economic circumstances of food pricing, and casually trivialize the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Beyond those things, though, this book is a necessary read.
