leo’s a massive fucking asshole like this dude is two feet deep in the abuser hole. and eliana is a victim. she was punching bag then a womb for his dead sister’s reincarnation. to call this love is what the kids call a bold faced lie.

2.75 stars! Honestly this was not good. Listen I’m all for an enemies to lovers situation but Leo literally ruined her life. He alienated her from her friends/social circle, he did things that he knew would destroy her mentally. And he did it with full intent of crushing her spirit. No amount of trauma he’s deflecting makes any of that okay. There was also a lot of sub plots going on here and open ended plot holes. Like what happened to the baby Claire was having at 50 years old? No mention of that after she’s out in prison. Didn’t get more than the absolute bare minimum on backstory of Cole/Laylah. And these main characters claimed to be adults, acted like high schoolers but were supposed to be in college?? I think class/studying was mentioned like 5 times max. Pet of the plot takes place Halloween-Christmas and no mention of finals?? Uh hello?? Trust me college kids would be stressing about that shit. Honestly the part I minded the least was the outlandish plot line of murder etc

I don’t know how I feel about this one..

A few thoughts…

- Leo was actively trying to ruin Eliana’s life for like 5 years. Everything she loved or took joy from he crushed it. There wasn’t nearly enough groveling. Like no.

- Why was Isabella killed? What purpose did it serve the other families? All this to have an affair?

- if Eliana had money the entire time why did she never just … leave ?

This book was full of sexual tension and bully behavior. It was entertaining but it didn’t hook me

I loved the toxic love aspect but I always cringe at public love confessions and at his GRADUATION of all places like some of the people there don’t give a flying fuck and just have to sit there as you talk about some weird old story about echo and narcissus that explains their relationship like ????
I also didn’t really understand the story sometimes like the amount of twists were insane for such a short book like let me stew with this info for a while and then add a twist, any info that was revealed I took with a grain of salt because it was most likely wrong.
Also I would have liked to see what happened to the other girls, I kind of understand the reason they were left out, to like hint that Isabella was seen as ‘more important’ and ‘news worthy’ then them but I would have liked to see Claire’s and carters trial and what happened to serena after it.
3/5

I read this book a while ago but occasionally still come back for more of Leo and Eliana's story. What I can never get over is how swoon-worthy this book is. Both of the main characters are full of angst and the tension between the two is so riveting, especially considering they're former lovers and now enemies. There's always been an undeniable spark between the two as we can see from their childhood interactions, and that has only increased as they've gotten older. Even as enemies they can only hold off on pretending as though they don't drive each other crazy for so long. Both characters are extremely possessive of each other but in a sweetly romantic way (okay fine maybe I just like the jealousy trope) that had me giggling. Overall, such a sweet book that I will continue coming back to.

I did really enjoy this. The murder mystery aspect wasn’t done overly well and some plot points were pretty expected but overall their dynamic was kinda fun. I’m not a huge fan of bully romances. This gave me There Are No Saints vibes except not as…. serial killer lol. But was it entertaining? For sure.
This does commit the “his green orbs” crime so be warned.

This one was a lot. It went beyond enemies to lovers. Leo it was very much Eliana’s torturer and tormentor. He made it his goal to make her life miserable and to make her hate him because her father was convicted of raping and murdering his twin sister and Leo wanted to punish everyone in the family.

But despite that, Leo and Eliana had a long history of loving each other. It started when they were children and he’s never been able to get her out of his system. When her father did what he did, he felt disloyal to his family for loving her and it’s only solution was to make her hate him. But things are not quite what they seem and when Eliana‘s life is in danger, Leo can’t ignore it. The to begin to grow closer despite their troubled past. But the question they have to answer is if they really can put the past behind them and make this work between them.

I’m not gonna lie. I was very confused as to why Eliana continued to not be able to resist Leo. He does terrible things to her. Some unforgivable things. But she could not get him out of her system anymore than Leo could get her out of his. And it really wasn’t until much closer to the end that I begin to believe in the love and root for these two. But overall, there was just a lot of baggage, toxicity, and insecurities between them they made it hard to support them.

This entire book was HOT! There was something magical about the way Clara brought all these characters to life and made me fall in love with them! My personal favourite in this entire book was easily Leo, something about him just made me love him so much! And the Echo & Narcissa nicknames just made me fall more in love with them and the book itself! So dreamy, so worth the read!
