Realistically this would be a 3.5. It had everything I needed to be a great book. Serial killer ✅ Female detective ✅ Grumpy possible love interest ✅ Yet I still felt like too much emphasis was placed on characters that as the reader I knew would be eliminated as suspects. Also why would the sister go undercover with zero training?

Another fantastic series by Gina LaManna! It’s somewhere in between Stephanie Plum and Rizzoli and Isles. Mystery, intrigue, strong female lead and a little bit if romance thrown in. This my be my favorite series yet!

The 1st book in the series. Kate Rosetti is investigating a murder when FBI agent Russo joins in with information linking it to a serial killer. Kate has no time for the agent who cajoles her into working together. She's closed off and unsociable unlike her sister Jane who needs a place to stay. Kate and Russo start piecing together the murders and the common denominator is the billionaire Allistair Gem who owns and operates dozens of businesses including a night club where the victim had been. Gem unsettles Kate and pursues her while still being a suspect. Russo & Kate are hot on the trail while Kate's sister is missing with clues pointing to the serial killer. A clean mystery with banter, light romance, & no foul language

Great new series by Gina LaManna! Based in St. Paul, MN, Detective Kate Rosetti finds herself investigating a homicide of a young woman. FBI Agent Russo is convinced this murder was done at the hands of a serial killer. Along with Kate’s sister, Jimmy, Gem, and the rest of the force, this great and fun read will keep you interested and turning the page. A little love story with a big murder, you’ll be surprised at the end. I can’t wait for the next book!

**I did receive this book in an exchange for a review. All reviews are 100% my personal opinion.

The mystery was very good, I enjoyed it. The characters were a little confusing.

I got strong Rizzoli and Isles vibes that became Women's Murder Club vibes and ended at JD Robb series vibes. It was a lot and I couldnt figure out who or what these characters were trying to be.

The detective was very confusing, barging in and questioning people in an attempt to keep her sister safe and not seperating personal and professional. There were also broad consent issues when she went into the hotel room to shower, the FBI agent/partner knew she went there to shower and he tried to creep up on her in the shower. It was never explained why, she punched him in the face, that was referenced several times but it was never explained why he was being creepy, and why she continued to be friendly with him. The men were very territorial too it was a bit weird.

I liked it and I'll definitely read the next one. I wanted to love it, but I love Stephanie Plum and Rizzoli and Isles, and this just felt like a copycat version.

Shoot the Breeze is about a detective named Kate. She's on a new case that includes an FBI agent, and another man who she finds attractive. There's sort of a love triangle thing, or more like which one will she choose, but other than that it was an interesting story. I enjoyed Kate and I liked how she interacted with everyone. I just hated her secrets at times. It was annoying, but I still really liked the book.
