DNF. Read 6/8 stories.

I read the first 6 stories in this, and actually didn't even finish the 6th one, because it wasn't really good at all.

Because I didn't finish it, I don't want to rate it, but if I were to give it a rating based on those stories I read, I'd probably break it down as follows:

Haunted Love by Cynthia Leitich Smith - 2 stars. The insta-love is strong on this one and I'm not a fan. The plot twists were nice, though. Maybe if it was a bit longer, it would have gone better.

Amber Smoke by Kristin Cast - 2,5 stars. Again, the insta-love. I liked the concept, but it all felt a bit rushed to me, to be quite honest.

Dead Man Stalking by Rachel Caine - 4 stars. Okay, so this was the best of the bunch I read. From what I understood, this takes place in an already existing universe by the same author. I might look that up and see if getting really into this is something I want to do. I found the concept interesting, and it wasn't even about romance, which is rare when it comes to these stories.

Table Manners by Tanith Lee - 3 stars. It had an interesting concept, but I felt like you got a bit of an information overload that could leave you very confused if you didn't keep up.

Blue Moon by Richelle Mead - 3 stars. It was okay, I enjoyed it, there wasn't anything particularly bad in it for me, but it wasn't anything too special either, if I'm honest. I'd need to read more of this story to figure out how I really felt about this.

Changed by Nancy Holder - 1 start. I'm sorry, but this short story felt like it was trying too hard, and the good things they tried to implement ended up being undone by some bad decisions this writer made later on. I skipped a few bits because I was rolling my eyes so hard at it I was afraid I'd pass out. I lost count of the times this author used the word "gay". It didn't need to be made that big of a deal. And the main character got on my nerves because of her constant selfish comments about this whole thing. No. Just no.

All in all, if I were to rate it by those I read, it'd amount to something like 2,6 stars. *shrugs* Seems fair.

This is a compilation of short stories.
Haunted Love by Cynthia Leitich Smith: 2 1/2 stars. This is about a vampire who re-opens the haunted theatre. The ghost that haunts it finally gets her revenge on the person who killed her, and she gets to be with the vampire who helped her to get her revenge.
Amber Smoke by Kristin Cast: 1 star. This is about a girl who has to find demons and send them back to hell. She dies in the beginning of the story but everyone can still see her which does not make any sense. Did not like this one.
Dead Man Stalking by Rachel Caine: 3 stars. This is a Morganville short, told from Shane's perspective. I love Shane and this was no exception.
Blue Moon by Richelle Mead: 3 stars. This is about a vampire and human who team up to save the world from vampire persecution. Cute, sweet, love story.
Changed by Nancy Holder 1 1/2 stars. Vicious vampires attack New York. Sean tries to kill his boyfriends best friend because he has always hated her, but Eli, the boyfriend, kills him to save her. Meh.
Binge by Rachel Vincent: -3 stars. I did not like this story at all. A muse kills her genius because she cannot control herself. This was horrible and makes me reconsider reading anything by Rachel Vincent.
Free by Claudia Gray: 3 stars. This is an Evernight short about how Patrice becomes a vampire. It was nice to get the back story on one of the characters from the series.

My favorite short story in this collection was Binge. I don't know, but it really struck me emotionally somehow.

OMG I loved this book! The book is an anthologie about vampires but it's so much better than I expected. Every short storie is writen by an a different autor and has different visions about vampires. The stories are made in different time and worlds and all of them are amazing. They do have romance, but also drama, suspense, action, adventure and I didn't want them to finish. If P.C. Cast wanted us to read these short stories to buy the real books she can be happy because that's exatcly what I'm going to do. I need those 8 books. Now.

I read this in preparation for our teen programs focusing on "Books that Bite", and I have to say this book made me realize that I don't really care for vampire fiction in general - I just like Twilight. So there.

So I read Richelle Mead "Blue Monn". It was okay. Didn't understand a thing. It wasn't vampire academy but make the same vampire myth. So it was okay. Good story. I also read Claudia Gray story "Free". It would of been great to read during the Evernight series was going on but it took me forever to read this short story about Patrice. I wish I can remember her in the series but I don't. Maybe a little but not a lot. Happy I got to it.

I picked this up on impulse. I tend to dislike anthologies, and most of the time I detest vampires. But Rachel Vincent has a story in here, and I enjoy her Soul Screamers world. I'm reading the other short stories just to get a taste of what's out there.

Haunted Love by Cynthia Leitech Smith
2/5
Boring, with a completely ridiculous ending. The writing could have been better.

Amber Smoke by Kristin Cast
0/5
Good God, what an insult to my intelligence. Atrocious writing, horrible characterization and a plot that made me gag. How this got published... There is far better out there. Like the next story...

Dead Man Stalking by Rachel Caine
4/5
Interesting characters, meaningful plot, and good action. This actually made me want to read the rest of the Morganville series, which is what these stories are meant to do.

Table Manners by Tanith Lee
3/5
I enjoyed the style, but I didn't think it was all that interesting.

Blue Moon by Richelle Mead
3/5
Interesting premise, but otherwise unremarkable.

Changed by Nancy Holder

I liked the way Jilly and Eli's relationship is portrayed.

Binge by Rachel Vincent
5/5
Intriguing concept of muses and sirens. Well written.

Free by Claudia Gray

Good kind of girl-power story. Sort of. Patrice perhaps could have shown a bit more emotion at her lover's passing.
