Preface: I found this book on my mum’s bookshelf and decided to give it a read. I completed this book a few weeks ago and I have a few concerns with it. I talked to @shadesnpages when I finished and she described the author as the Tyler Perry of literature and I can understand why. Now this book is older than my life, so if you haven’t read it by now, you probably don’t have any intention to.

Eric Jerome Dickey!!!! So far, excluding the Gideon series, this is my favorite book by EJD. I absolutely love how EJD moves aside as the author and let the characters speak in their own voice. The character development in this book had me both hating and loving the characters at different points in the story. It was a good story with a good but unexpected ending. If you haven't read Cheaters, check it out.

Toxic book. I really enjoyed between lovers so I looked forward to reading this book. This is the extreme opposite. The book is filled with anti-abortion references, a deeply transphobic moment, and just all around nastiness. If this is real, I don’t want it. I’m hesitant to try any of his other books after this.

First book I ever read by EJD in 2001 and he became one of my favorite authors because of it. I don't re-read too many books, but this one is definitely on my list.

My favorite book of all time. Every time I read it, I find something else to love about it.
