I have been wanting to read this book since I saw it at the bookstore...but patiently waiting for a copy to fall into my lap as I have been told I am not allowed to buy any new books (you would agree if you saw my bookshelves at home). Magically, I found a copy in Indo....and devoured the book.

I was not blind. I knew this book was not just about the author hiking the PCT, I knew it as also about her finding herself after losing her mother. I knew she was not an expert hiker and I was eager to read about the mistakes she made...and hear her story. Oh, and the movie? I saw it and enjoyed it....but I knew (and hoped the book would provide more details). The book was exactly what I expected....a story of the author trying to rebuild herself after losing her mother and her marriage. It is also a fun tale of a woman's dedication to hiking a trail...I admire her stamina and I hope to one day attack the AT with the same strength (but less baggage).

Read if you are into memoirs, like hiking...or want to escape your reality.

Loved this! It got a bit slow at times, and felt a bit unrealistic (HOW on earth did she go from no backpacking experience ever to 6 months on the PCT? what the heck?) but as a backpacker i loved Cheryl’s story and motivation for doing it. Makes me wanna hike the PCT myself

Dear Wild,
I have been a fan of Cheryl Strayed for a long time. I really love her story, and was surprised at how much her journey resonated with me. I was so surprised at how much I could relate with her path through the mountains. Your writing was lyrical and deep and I really loved losing along myself with Cheryl on the PCT.

Ah, jammer.

Read it at a moment where i probably needed to read a boo like this. You feel really attached to cheryll and her journey is inspiring while yet being realistic, she does not sugarcoat.
