I was dubious when I heard there was a sequel to The Family Upstairs. Thrillers don't normally invite a sequel, and if there is one it's usually terrible. But this was even better than the first book and I really enjoyed it.

This should definitely come with a disclaimer about rape and domestic violence. People who have PTSD should be warned and given a chance to decide if they are in the right mindset to read.

I am a fan of Lisa Jewell and love her writing. This is a good story, good character development, I enjoyed it up until the rape scene.

Lisa Jewell is always doing a great job misdirecting the reader so that everything you've expected turns out to be different from the actual ending of the book. This book makes no exception.

We have the investigation into a murder committed 30 years ago and brought to light by some bones discovered on the shore of Thames. We have a family full of secrets and particularly, an interesting, convoluted, misunderstood man called Henry who is trying to mend the past. But the way he does it, it's raising more questions about his real intensions and his sanity.

The ending was a bit of a let down in my case, but it was surprising, nevertheless.

A good, easy and fast to read book!
