This book included 12 adventures titled:
1. A Scandal in Bohemia
2. The Red-Headed League
3. A Case of Identity
4. The Boscombe Valley Mystery
5. The Five Orange Pips
6. The Man with the Twisted Lip
7. The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
8. The Adventure of the Speckled Band
9. The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb
10. The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor
11. The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
12. The Adventure of the Copper Beeches

I loved these. It was awesome to read the mystery to which Sherlock needed to solve and see his mannerisms. Then out of absolutely nothing it seemed he had solved it! I loved how the story included through Sherlock on how he solved cases. Noticing the little things was mostly how he did it and I found myself trying to use those same tricks as best I could from reading to figure things out. It was a fun and awesome read.

I don't really know the metric for a good mystery but I can't say that I wasn't entertained. It was very fun guessing along, and even more fun when I turned out to be right.

I love the way that he writes dialogue, the flow is so good that I feel like they're standing there talking in front of me!!

I'd recommend for anyone to read it but I'm not sure I'd read it again myself. Maybe a few of the stories

I read 2 of the stories and listen to the rest.
It's a re-read from a very long time ago, at least 15 years, so I didn't remember anything.

I would say though, I wonder if it's because I've been watching a lot of Hercule Poirot, playing one of the games made about one of the more famous stories, and read a few books of both Poirot and Holmes in the last 2 yrs, but I could guess most of the stories. Or maybe they were just easier to figure out.

It's enjoyable enough. Some of the stories are a little more... I don't know if the stakes are too low or the "detectiving" goes by really quickly, but I wasn't as intrigued or interested in some of them, mostly the ones surrounding mariage stuff and deception over murders or more "intense" and complex schemes (exception for "A Case of Identity" and "The Man with the Twisted Lip", even though both were easy to guess). That said, event though there's a murder in "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", it was a bit boring.

On top of "A Case of identity" and "The Man with the Twisted Lip", I would say my favorites are "The Red-Headed League", "The Five Orange Pips" and "The Adventure of the Speckled Band". Honorable mention to "The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb" as well, though the resolution is meh.

I think maybe the main issue I have with this book (which is something I usually have with collection of short stories) is that I feel like I didn't get to see much of Holmes and Watson. I didn't feel like they were inhabiting the sories enough most of the time. And I don't think any of these stories has an impact on THE story of Sherlock Holmes as a whole. But, then again, it was still enjoyable enough.

Again the stories averaged to about 4.5 stars
Favorite stories are bolded

A Scandal in Bohemia - 5/5 - I like this Irene Adler best
The Red-headed League - 5/5 - tenacious as a lobster
A Case of Identity - 4/5 - gotta hate a shitty family
The Boscombe Valley Mystery - 5/5 - very enjoyable!
The Five Orange Pips - 3/5 - eh
The Man with the Twisted Lip - 4/5 - never trust an actor
The Blue Carbuncle - 4/5 - an actual wild goose chase
The Speckled Band - 5/5 - If I had a nickel for every stepfather who tried keeping his stepdaughter from marrying in a Sherlock Holmes story, I’d have two nickels
The Engineer’s Thumb - 5/5 - a very narrow escape!

The Noble Bachelor - 4/5 - I would love to know how the dinner went
The Beryle Coronet - 4/5 - bittersweet
The Copper Beeches - 5/5 - I love the stories where Sherlock isn’t quite needed

Averaged out it's a 4.5, which I feel is very accurate

A Scandal in Bohemia - 5/5 - Every adaptation doesn’t hold a candle to the original
The Red-headed League - 5/5 - How did homeboy not notice something was up?
A Case of Identity - 5/5 - Poor girl
The Boscombe Valley Mystery - 5/5 - I would’ve loved this to be longer
The Five Orange Pips - 3/5 - I would’ve liked more to the mystery
The Man with the Twisted Lip - 3/5 - Not the strongest story
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle - 4/5 - Not a great mystery but I like the clues
The Adventure of the Speckled Band - 4/5 - No thank you
The Adventure of the Engineer’s Thumb - 5/5 - Ya squished!
The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor - 5/5 - Mawwiage
The Adventure of the Beryle Coronet - 4/5 - Juicy!
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches - 5/5 - One of my favorite stories!

**2020**
I read most of these short stories years ago, but I didn't note how I felt about them at the time.
But currently, I've fallen in love with these books and Sherlock Holmes. If I only went off the three stories I had to read to complete this book, It would've been a 5 star read.

Obvio que es por la época, pero bastante machista la óptica aveces en los personajes. De todas maneras siempre son interesantes las historias del detective.
