4.5 stars!
I put off reading this one, not because I wasn't looking forward to another of King's masterpieces, but because I watched the Netflix movie for this just a few years ago and figured it just wouldn't hit the same until I waited for the movie to go foggy in my brain. I was WRONG. The movie is nothing compared to this. King masterfully crafted a story that is not only well within the realm of plausibility but is also teeming with dread, fear, and disgust. I audibly reacted to the scenes in this book, and I don't think I'll ever forget some of them. I will say that the pacing takes a minute to get rapid, and you will need a STRONG stomach for this one, but it was well worth it!

I definitely would’ve DNF’ed if I wasn’t it reading for a readathon. I can see why people like this, but it is absolutely not for me and the exact opposite of what I’m looking for.

It had been more than a year since i've read a King book i think, and i was excited to finally jump into another uneasy read! It was quite uneasy all right, but for all the wrong reasons.

This book was extremely slow paced and boring. It could easily have been atleast half the pages, and that's me being generous. We all know the premise. Girl is bound to bed, can't get out, tries to get out, escape methods and a healthy dose of talking to yourself ensues! This also means you can skip 10 pages or more almost anywhere and realize you haven't missed a single thing.

There are some positives. The dog aswell as - other antagonistic entity i shall not name - piqued my interest. The flashbacks were also a nice escape from the main plot. When it's scary and body-horror filled, it is exactly that and does it well. These parts, however, are scarcer than clean pimpleless skin on my face during puberty.

All in all, i've seen 90-year olds with a faster pace than this book. Hell, there's probably dead ones which can be quicker. Such a stale, yawn-inducing read, bummer.

Oh where to begin with this mess. Overall it felt like a really clean and concise short story that had been padded tremendously to turn into a novel. 44% of the way through and of many hours into the audiobook, and I just felt like it was taking forever.
This is Stephen King so I was expecting our female protagonist to be fairly unrealistic and probably tackling some serious subjects poorly. I was not prepared for the nonsense in the flashback sequences.
I really wanted to finish this but just didn't want to force myself to. There's some genuinely terrifying concepts here but none of it is executed properly.

Good book! The realization that ⅔’s of the book is happening in one place is crazy… few moments in the book were literally scarring me… to the point of distracting myself with something else!!! It reminded me why I love Steven King!!!
