I already forgot a lot about this book, since I waited too long after reading it to write anything. The writing is pretty similar to the first book, mostly good but super cheesy at times. My eyes about rolled out of my head with the corniness of the author breaking out the phrase "my third eye, my private eye..." ... lol, get it, he has a private eye and he is a private eye? Sigh.

Anyways, it's light reading, and it was interesting enough for me to move on to the third, at which point I'll probably take a break from the series.

John Taylor can find anything, which he does for a living in the Nightside - a part of London which is between Heaven and Hell. He is hired by Jude, a priest, to find the Unholy Grail, something which he finds everyone else - including angels from Heaven and Hell want. Interesting concept, but wasn't quite to my taste.

I haven't laughed at horror, mayhem and the end of the human or not so human race as I have with this book. Love John Taylor also liked him in Duran Duran. HA.. Taylor finds things and it seems a bunch of pissed off angels want him to find this thing. Something very special and dark, the other grail.

I really like the Secret Histories and am really enjoying the Nightside story. The way Green blends legends and myths in with his stories is very interesting and enjoyable. I especially liked the story of the unholy grail.

Agents of Light and Darkness was not as good as the first book in the series. Though I liked the idea and finish of the story a lot more this time I found John's constant need to remind us how life is like in Nightside tiring. We get it, people come to Nightside to do bad things, it's dark, it's full of neon lights, you can't trust people, blah blah blah. One should not repeat themselves so much in such a short novel.

I did like that we got to learn a lot more about Suzie and Merlin. He did flush out multiple characters a lot more but Walker and he Collector they might as well have copied and pasted the information from the previous book.

All in all loved the store and disliked the writing. Still going to read the third book though.

Gefiel mir besser als Band 1 und hat mich wieder sehr unterhalten, hat aber noch Potenzial nach oben.

This series continues to be my "popcorn" series. It's short, fast reading that is an entertaining ride. The writing is pretty solid for the most part, but I love the world he is spinning. The Nightside is becoming one of my favorite fictional locales, and I really enjoyed the idea of an "unholy grail." This second installment built a little more depth into the main characters, and actually has you caring about what happens next.

I'm afraid the Nightside has a hold of me, and I'm going to end up buying more in this series.

While this was quite some fun and kept me entertained, I had a bit of a harder time to get into the story. The plot was just a bit too over the top for me. And while easy prose, action and fast pace are just why I like this sort of Urban fantasy, I still want to be able to at least kind of believe most of the story. Some of it can be over the top (Dresden riding a revived dinosaur skeleton...) and funny because of it, but if it gets too much it takes from the book for me. This is why one star is missing here.

Otherwise again great fun, easy read, fast paced, lots of action, quite some gore, adventure, danger, friendship, offensive language and a fuckload of angels. ;)
