I love this series. The plot of this particular book was a lot of fun, and I liked seeing the worked in consent content that didn’t feel contrived.
The art style of these books is wonderful, and the characters are complex and engaging. Each volume has a simple seeming plot that gets complicated by the social and emotional web that is being a middle schooler. I also love the inclusivity of background characters. Queer teachers, people of color, women wearing head coverings (like the coach). I’d love to see those characters pulled into lead roles more often!
