One night, Korede gets a call from her sister Ayoola for help. She has just killed her boyfriend, who she claims tried to attack her when she tried to break up with him. But the thing is, this isn’t the first time Korede gets this call and has to clean up Ayoola’s mess. And she’s not sure it’ll be the last.

When I tell you there was this feeling of simmering dread that filled me reading this *whole* book, I would be underselling it. Braithwaite is a master of tension and atmosphere. The writing was so good. The pacing was perfect. I felt so strongly about the characters. I had to keep reading. You knew what was coming and you dreaded it. And yet Braithwaite somehow manages to surprise you still. An absolutely stunning little book on human nature, trauma, sisterhood, patriarchy, and, well, murder. Seriously go read this now.

this book could have been good if it went deeper into everyone's psyches. as it is now, it's just average which is honestly a shame. also the author seems not to realize how not good of a person the main character is which doesn't help its case

I really like Braithwaite’s writing style and her dialogue is amazing. I just kinda struggled to connect with the characters. Half way through the story I found myself thinking ”why should I care about this story?” I also found that I don’t like the characters. And in a way that’s unusual for me. I normally love characters that are morally grey (or in this case probably just straight up horrible), but for some reason I just couldn’t like them as characters. The potential this book had with its themes and the way it let me down was dissapointing.

ALSO, this was marketed as a comedy, but I really struggled to find that aspect of the story. 🤷🏻‍♀️
