Hmmm as an adult... i know for a fact that the characterization of women in all forms of Japanese media need alot of work. Unfortunately Death Note is within the norm here. There

... yeah, now I remember why black edition vol 2 is one of my least favorite bind-ups. I say that as if I didn't enjoy this volume lol but clearly I enjoyed it quite a bit-- I gave it 4/5. But it's definitely my least favorite volume so far. I thought I might like Misa more now, but... nope. She's still really grating and tbh it's really frustrating that the most prominent woman in the entire series is purposely written to be annoying and get in the way and not be as competent as Light. JUST SAYING.
This is also the point where I feel like the series starts to shift. I really enjoy & have a strong recollection of the early days of cat & mouse between Light & L (essentially if this is a 3 act structure, we've just finished act 1 because we're 1/3 through) and at the end of this volume we kinda enter act 2, which I don't have a strong memory of. So we'll see how much of the upcoming volumes I remember lol because I'm currently drawing a blank.

Holy shit, Misa is so amazingly annoying. I'd completely forgotten just how she acts. I don't remember being particularly annoyed by her when I first came across Death Note, but now as an adult I really don't like her.
The whole investigation is also so unethical, even if L got proof that Light is Kira then I couldn't imagine a world where he'd be able to take Light to court with all the weird shit the team has done.

I have to say that the introduction of Misa greatly enhanced my enjoyment of this series. The conclusion of this volume was a bit unexpected for me especially since Light gave himself up as a potential suspect for Kira, but I'm sure that he has something up his sleeve and I'm looking forward to discovering what that is in the next book!

Even though I'm not a gung-ho feminist, Raito is a total fucking asshole when it comes to how he treats women >=| I ignored his indifference toward his mother at the start, but in this volume he was blatantly rude to Misa Amane and Takada, and god knows who else.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't display the same disrespect toward other male characters, and is instead only rude and arrogant towards women. *stabs*
Misa is pretty pathetic though, I will admit. She acts like a 14 year old hysterical fangirl, and throwing herself at Raito's feet is just tragic.
It's kind of annoying that the shinigami keep on leaving out crucial facts until it's relevant - i.e saying that you can forfeit your Death Note and the only negative repercussion lies in losing your memory of the Note and the shinigami =/ Is there still nothingness after death for a former death note user?
There were a few hilarious moments in the volume though, like L's shock and horror at being called a pervert XD
I <3 this manga
