This isn't my favourite book of 2016, nor is it my least favourite. I just feel like I am missing something.

There is a bit too much conspiracy in this book and not enough fantasy / sci-fiction for me. There is defiantly something missing. There is so much potential in a story line like this, the whole 'rippling' thing and disappearing into thin area, going invisible and being able to go through walls, doors etc is just super cool and I really get a kick out of that.

I just felt like this book was too 'ooh we're being hunted by an unknown outside source' and really nothing happens. Its all paranoia and not very much action.

Actual rating 2.5 stars. I almost didn't finish this one, but as it was a halfway decent read I don't regret taking the time to finish it. Though I do admit to putting it aside for more than a month before I finally got around to finishing it.

Sam's character wasn't my favorite, it mostly bothered me how much she relied on her precious love interest, but I enjoyed seeing her become - slightly - more independent. The dialogue also got on my nerves, they laughed and guffawed way too much for conversations that weren't really that funny.

A lot of things weren't well explained in the novel either, hopefully because it is the first in a series, and to really get the most out of it the rest of the series will likely need to be read.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this book to people who go nutty over dialogue that can be unrealistic. But anyone who doesn't mind that sort of thing will likely greatly enjoy this book.

Just read the last 15%, everything else is repetitive and nonsense.

Cidney Swanson is the first author I've had the privilege of talking to (if only via email and twitter). I want to give a special thanks Cidney for her generosity in giving me a copy of this! It was my first experience with Kindle...I figured I would hate reading on an electronic device, but surprisingly it wasn't too bad. It's not something I'd prefer over holding the real tangible thing in my hands (and the smell of books...mmmm). But I would do it again. Which I will, to get book 2! Anyway, on to the review...

Awesome story that was fortunately not weighed down by the horrible overuse of the tired, cliche love triangle like other books that I've read lately. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and settings, and can't wait to read more from this author.

After reading the first three books in the "Saving Mars" series and really enjoying them, I figured I'd give this series by the same author a try (another one that I managed to snag the first two free in kindle promotions). It started off strong, but then ... I guess being in a more "realistic" setting (regular ol' earth, present day) I'm less likely to be willing to suspend my disbelief as I am in a completely unique setting (like Saving Mars) and I am a bit more judgmental ... I'm more likely to roll my eyes at things. The insta-love, some of the reactions of the characters to certain situations.

So ... it was ok. I'll probably continue to read on at some point.

I wasn't sure what Rippler was going to be when I first asked Cidney Swanson if I could be so honored as to read her novel for Starcrossed. I assumed it was going to be a young adult paranormal romance, just like everything else I read. And I was right...sort of.

There is a bit of romance in Rippler but it definitely doesn't dominate the story.

Right away, on the very first page, we're thrown into the storyline and left to figure out what the heck is going on, where the events fit into the story, and how it will all play out in the end.

The book centers around "rippling", an idea that I have never read about before. So I applaud Cidney Swanson for writing a book with a subject that I have never heard, thought of, or read about before.

Also, that cover is absolutely beautiful!

I got this as a free e-book. Because of this, I was actually very surprised by how good it was.
The whole concept of rippling was new and fascinating. I really liked the history that Swanson created.
And I liked the characters as well. Sam is a pretty relatable teenager. Yes, she is dramatic sometimes, but I think under the circumstances, it is understandable why she seems to blow things out of proportion at times.
I thought the plot was interesting as well and I liked all the twists and turns that occurred. But the thing that really hooked me was all the development stuff where things weren't necessarily happening that furthered the plot a whole lot, but were so well-written that they really pulled me in. I felt really connected to the characters and following their day-to-day lives. Usually when I read a book, I often feel that the dialogue is tedious when it sets up various character relationships, but in this book, it felt very natural.
This was a pleasantly surprising book that I really enjoyed. It is the first e-book I have read that was interesting enough for me to want to continue the series.
