This was cute. Probably one of the best classics I’ve read. I didn’t love it tho and probably won’t read it again. But finally understood why Mr. Darcy was the Edward Cullen of that generation lol.

(a 2024 re-read)

The sheer brilliance of Pride & Prejudice does not anchor itself in a convoluting plot but lies in the text itself.

The thinly veiled blossoming sexual attraction evidenced by lines like “Mr. Darcy said very little, and Mr. Hurst nothing at all. The former was divided between admiration of the brilliancy which exercise had given to her complexion, and doubt as to the occasion's justifying her coming so far alone” after homegirl walked 3 miles through fields and freakin’ Meryton and submerged the poor petticoat in the mud alludes so subtly to an attraction conveniently tucked in semantics you have to be hyper-aware not to miss.

It’s the subtle push and pull. A classic will they or won’t they. AND IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WE CAN’T BE FRIENDS.
