what a fantastic piece of nonfiction. it's rare something that isn't fanciful in any way catches my attention quite as much as this read did. dettmer keeps very confusing scientific topics very light and understandable, leading me to read more than one passage out loud to whoever i was with at the time, because i just HAD to share. really can't recommend this enough, especially if you or someone you know has autoimmune issues and you want to understand more of our lack of understanding of the immune system...

This was a well written very informative medical book on the immune system. I think a lot of the information went over my head but I did come away with a deeper understanding of the complexities of our immune system. First medical type book I have read cover to cover.

A definite must read. This should be mandatory, especially in a pandemic like this.
The Author is able to bring complex system down to a understandable level. And he writes it with Humor. It's like Terry Pratchett meets Christian Drosten (a German experts and Doctor of virology).
Afterwards you have a good starting point to understand what happens in your body when you get sick.
