This one missed the mark in that there was no depth to the poems (if they can be called that). There are paragraphs of ramblings and pages with 2-4 lines. I’ve read another one of his book of poems and instantly connected. I didn’t have that experience with this particular book. But I’m still a fan! Because for some woman/women out there this may resonate. For me it did not.

I had read this while I was a teenager, maybe I would have related more to this, but sadly, this book was just disappointing.

The structure was bad, and most of the poems weren't poems at all. All of the poems were extremely repetitive and just more of the same thing over and over and it made it boring.

Firstly, I love the thickness of this one. There is so much content. Secondly, even though I can’t currently relate to needing to leave someone, I was in that situation about six months ago. It took a lot out of me to leave and let go of someone who I had thought was forever, to step out into uncomfortable territory. So I related to those pieces in the past, and it was comforting. I ended up with way too many (not that that’s actually a thing) highlights and sticky note tabs, and even devoured the book in one sitting. Looking for something realistic with such raw emotion? Read this. Belongs on my favourites list for sure.

i picked this book up thinking it’d really speak and impact me. it definitely had some meaningful poems that resonated with me, but it ended up being very repetitive and a little disappointing. the title decieved me from what the authors goal was with this specific set of poems. this book was tailored to walking away from an abusive/toxic partner which isn’t something im experiencing currently, so i couldn’t relate to the message which was part of why i was disappointed.

“one day her thoughts will be beautiful without sadness and pain. some joy, some peace and love”.
This was probably the best poetry book I’ve read in a while.
