An interesting take on how spring begins, maybe better for a preschool/kindergarten aged child.

Maybe I just wasn't in the right mind frame for this one but it just struck me as very odd. I don't really like it when kid's books suggest children wander outside their homes in the middle of the night. My 4 year old even questioned the wisdom of following a random bear into the woods and emphatically told me that spring does not hatch from an egg.

A bear leads a little boy into the forest as they follow mysterious sounds, "Crinkle, Crackle, Crack." Sounds increase along the way, " rap, bap tap!" and the little boy becomes frightened, wondering what the sounds are leading to.

This beautifully illustrated Spring picture book will make a wonderful read aloud. Children will enjoy repeating the mysterious sounds and examining the gentle india ink and watercolor illustrations.

"Crinkle, Crackle, Crack, It's Spring" will be enjoyed most by children ages 3-6. Read. Share. Enjoy. Purchase.
