This was a fast, easy read but honestly did not have much depth to its story or characters. I never felt really invested in it in any way, the plot was mostly mild with a few scenes of interest, and the so-called romance between Winter and Garret felt both one-sided and lacking in any chemistry. Most of this story was telling, not showing, and so I never really felt any emotions towards or about these characters. The few times I did - such as the antagonism with Shane or the friendship problems with Maureen - it felt either like quick 180 degree turns of emotion or ridiculously overdramatic reactions respectively.
There were some parts I liked and the whole evil ghost thing had some potential (if it also hadn't been so extremely cheesy at times) as did the mystery surrounding Shane, but it isn't enough to get me to continue this trilogy. What I came for was the ghost romance (because I love those) but it sadly just did not do anything for me in this book.
