This book reads like no other. It begins with her as a child and it is written from a childs perspective. And progresses thru adulthood her voice and opinions changing along the way culminating with her leaving the cult and finding her way in the world. Extremely difficult material but she does an excellent job with it.

At the beginning of Sex Cult Nun, Faith Jones writes that she now has a good relationship with each of her parents, that their actions throughout her earlier life were a result of the beliefs they held at the time. If you're someone like me, with only a vague interest in cults and very little prior knowledge of the Children of God group, this note about Faith's parents meant very little until... well, until she started to tell her story.
I will never begin to understand how a parent could ever let their child endure what Faith did, and the fact that she is alive to tell her story now shows how strong she has had to be in order to overcome such unbelievable trauma. Sex Cult Nun is nothing short of a horror story, but it is also one of the best memoirs I've read in terms of structure, flow, writing style, and pacing. Incredible read.

Faith Jones shares a vulnerable and eye opening account of her experience growing up in the Children of God. This is a very straightforward retelling of the Jones' experiences — I saw that some other reviewers didn't enjoy this, but I personally feel it created a more detailed picture.
Graphic: Child abuse, Pedophilia, and Rape
Moderate: Eating disorder and Fatphobia

A phenomenal memoir. I felt like I was viewing the story from inside of Faith's brain, and I didn't want it to end! What a story.
I listened to this on audio, which is narrated by the author, I would highly recommend it.
