The book is nice. It just shows the human side of her and growing and being a sexual individual. I liked the combination of religion, folklore and personal experiences to each dish and liked the wine section.

What a weird book. I actually had no idea what I was getting into. I just wanted a short Isabel Allende book to listen to, but I fear my pick may have been to rushed lol. There were moments when I literally yelled “ew!” outloud to myself while listening to this book. It felt a little to tmi.

AUDREY'S ONE-SENTENCE BOOK REVIEWS

"So what if you make a mistake? No one is filming your errors. I invent them in the inspiration of the moment, and I can never repeat them– which is why you won't find mine here."

I love this style of nonfiction, almost a scrapbook of art, literature, history, culture, and personal experience, together composing a collage which depicts a world where food is more than just sustenance (that said, elements of the text & design date this as an artifact of the mid-90s; I would love to read an updated anniversary edition).

this is a nice book to have laying around when you just want to read for a couple minutes. it's just a long compilation of tidbits concerning the aphrodisiac potential of every food you could possibly think of. however, allende always brings a slight bit of humor to her writing.

a great recipe book to have in the kitchen when you're feeling a little frisky or when you need a pick me up.
