I really identified with so much in this book, as a child who grew up in a traumatic environment. The attachment issues, learning how to be a human, allowing yourself to be loved... all if it.

Lane Moore has had a difficult life, but she tells her story with a mix of humor and wisdom. I enjoyed hearing about her life and am inspired to watch some of her comedy acts, read some of her Onion articles, and maybe listen to some of her songs.

Reading this book felt a long conversation with a friend! More of a personal narrative than I was expecting, but still insightful and good!

While Moore’s specific tales of heartache and abandonment (both literal and emotional) are uniquely hers, and I am not someone who’s gone through nearly the hardships she’s faced, there is a thread throughout this work of struggle that is universal. Of wanting to be seen as you see yourself, as you see the world. It is a gut wrenching feeling Moore navigates with wit, self deprecation, and candor I found relatable and refreshing.

It was actually quite good, it was just making me really sad at a time I wasn't really up for that.

this was so much better than i thought it’d be. i randomly picked this up expecting it to be a kinda bs self help thing, fully prepared to pick it apart. instead it was the most relatable memoir for me ever. had me crying within 10 freakin minutes just from how validating and relatable it was.
and then also just hilarious at times too. it’s read by the author and the authenticity and voice she brings to it is fantastic.
