REVIEW WITH SPOILERS

Imagine me as unimpressed as you could possibly be.

I skipped "Twisted Hate", I didn't ever bother reading that one.

Let's just start off by saying that some writers have a concept for a series (Not unlike this one) and they try to recreate things that worked in the previews book. Which in theory isn't a horrible thing, but it is when they stretch the concept to (quite frankly) WTF things. I mostly experienced this with metaphors.
"An angel about to come from being fucked like a whore." No, yes, obviously this is state-of-the-art metaphor, and it gets all of us going. This was all around the series. You don't have to come up with weird AF metaphors to write steamy scenes. Sometimes the simpler things are the best. That was something that stuck like a sore thumb for me as I was reading, but some might call it nitpicking.

There were some things that were okay. I liked the softer parts of Christian, the stalking thing was a cool concept but I believe it ended up a tad weird, Stella was a good protagonist, the fact that the series ended in a nice way.

Now... Christian Harper. My dude. * ahem * I have an issue with you "morally gray" being... and that is that you're not that morally gray. You're black-ish. THAT'S NOT THE SAME. (Please don't kill me, this is my opinion)
Morally gray characters are a very rare breed, very difficult to write, and Harper just doesn't do it justice. this might be my opinion but when he killed someone for groping Stella??????????????????????????? Weird. Totally out of the blue (Well, not totally, but you get what I mean). Morally gray characters are supposed to make you doubt yourself, right? At least, for me, the BEST morally gray characters make you doubt whether or not you'd do the same. That's the beauty of it, to make you a little uncomfortable, make you think, sometimes to even make you choose sides. "The right ending by somewhat rare means". And Harper just made me sigh because he was a little man/child-ish.

Stella was okay. There's not much more I can say about her. She didn't stand out in any way. I liked that she stood up for herself with her family, that was good. The swift is her family towards the end was a nice touch.

I love Stella’s character, she was so warm and lovely you wanted to be friends with her yourself.

The Twisted series all loosely followed the same plot outlines but I loved that they were all connected by the four friends, and that their partners were themselves all connected in some way.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

I feel like that’s how all of my reviews start. Oh well.

You know how in the show You everyone excuses Joe and all he does, I feel like that towards Christian. Is he a stalker? Yeah. Is he a murderer? Yeah. Am I scared of him? Yeah. Am I obsessed with him? Absolutely.

SPOILERS AHEAD

My question through the whole book was why is he obsessed with her, because she’s a little to nice. And I find the fact that he was OBSESSED with her and fascinated by her purely because he could not understand how she could be nice adorable.

I love Stella and Christians personal growth through the book so much. Stella learning to be proud of who she is and that she’s isn’t a nuisance to the people around her and can do what she wants to do, and Christian learning that he doesn’t need torture himself by being alone and that he is aloud to feel all the human emotions ahhhh.

I LOVE CHRISTIAN!! I feel like I had established that but I really do (might be a controversial opinion but I think I like him more then Alex.) But I love that he is just obsessed with Stella so much.

——————————————————————————————

“I wondered what she was dreaming about and whether said dream included me.
If not, that was unacceptable.
I pressed a soft kiss to her shoulder and wrapped a possessive arm around her waist.
Whether in heaven or hell, in dreams or real life, Stella was mine.
And I didn't fucking share.”

“"Because love is ordinary. Mundane. And you, Stella...» The soft rasp of the zipper filled the air as he dragged it up my spine in one exquisitely, torturously slow glide.
My breath left my lungs at both the sensuality of the movement and the raw intimacy of his next words.
"You're extraordinary.””

“None of them held a candle to Stella. She glowed in a way that had nothing to do with her outer beauty.
Darkness was always drawn to light, but I wasn't just drawn to her; I was fucking obsessed. I would throw myself into her flame and let it burn me alive if it meant her warmth was the last thing I felt before I died.”

——————————————————————————————

And Christians back and forth between I need her and I don’t want to need her. I think fake dating as much as i love it always makes the real feeling in books for at least one person confusing because it’s like “they’re only doing this because we are fake dating this isn’t real.” always FUCK THEM UP so hard.

If cat and mouse isn’t a sub genre of the slow burn trope it should be.
