Here's what's cool about this book: you can sum it up in a single sentence - single dad in Japan gets visit from estranged twin brother's Canadian widower - but that single sentence tells you what a complex emotional ride you're in for. On the surface, it seems like nothing much happens, but within that nothing much, everything happens. It's a beautiful story full of heart.

This is simple storytelling at its finest. It's so wholesome and emotional without being bogged down by complicated or unnecessary drama. Filled with vulnerable characters who are willing to be challenged and grow.

It's just so lovely. IDK I feel like it's just so humanizing for everyone involved in the story. Grief is so complicated and so is coming out and accepting those who are different. I just really liked every part of this manga. I especially liked when  Yaichi really started uprooting his homophobia after he realized that his daughter could grow up to be a lesbian, and his fear was that she'd have a rough time in their society.

I could have read about this family growing closer and just loving each other forever.
