I enjoy the books in this series, but I never have much to say about them -- they're the literary equivalent of a cup of hot cocoa, meant to be enjoyed and not really analyzed.

It had its moments, but the "solution" to one of the mysteries was kind of just thrown at you close to the end without much investigating/mystery-solving/foreshadowing/ any sort of other information or explanation to how we got to the solution.

Mma Ramotswe has several cases this time around and Mma Makutsi tells her fiancé she's a feminist and is then afraid she's run him off. Blue shoes make me smile and of course tea time is the best time and has its place in this book as I continue to expect. I wonder if Mma Ramotswe will ever try something besides bush tea.

Probably one of the bleakest Ladies' Detective Agency book yet. The tone just feels so dark compared with all the others. There's a few moments of light and wit, but on the whole the book is not a stand out. I do not expect every book to be roses and sunshine, but there is a balance to be made and I do not think this one succeeds in that balance. I hope the next book recovers.

At the time it came out, I needed a little happiness, and as usual, Mma. Ramotswe, Mma. Makutsi and the beauty of Botswana gave me the lift I needed.

Honestly the only reason I read this series is because I know what to expect. In a good way. It's about people. Not super complicated, angsty people. but normal people. And it's wonderful. I know this book will comfort me. And the series hasn't let me down so far. It's's a chill read on a slow day.
It didn't have as many mysteries as I expected but that's fine. I read it for its warm fuzzies. Very dependable if you're looking for a light read to lift your mood.

A feel-good mystery without murder and mayhem. The picture the author paints about Botswana is rich and has a strong sense of community, tradition and family woven into every scene. It's been quite a while since I've read in this series and it was very enjoyable to return. Mma Ramotswe is as practical as ever and her cases are always amusing.
