This is possibly the stupidest thriller I've ever read.

Such high hopes for this one...I was sold by the cover (beautiful!!!) and premise (podcasts!!!). But it was so slow, never got invested in the characters to really root for anyone, it felt like nothing really happened and then it was all info dumped in the final chapter. It has a decent twist that I got (almost) right. I didn't hate it, but I never loved it, mainly just pushed through it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  I couldn’t put it down, I spent my entire Saturday reading it.  If I Disappear was fast-paced and thrilling for the first 3/4 of the book, but the ending threw me off.  I only gave this four stars because of the way it wrapped up.  It definitely blew my mind, with all the twists, but I did find it a little hard to believe.  I didn’t think it was not a fulfilling ending,  as it sort of left me with more questions that needed answers.  Maybe there will be a follow-up novel?  Who knows.  On a positive note, the writing was absolutely beautiful and the detail was thorough.  Eliza did an amazing job at painting a vivid picture for the reader.  The atmosphere was creepy, yet beautiful and terrifying, yet safe.  She had excellent character building, and everyone seemed suspicious or crazy or creepy.

This book is incredibly unique and well worth the read.  Don’t let the ending deter you, it’s still an awesome read!  This is a book you can just dive right into and be completely immersed.

Thank you for the gifted book Netgalley and Berkley.

Oof. I really wanted to like this book. I love true crime podcasts and a book based on a fan becoming obsessed with one sounds right up my alley. However, I should have DNFed this book. This weekend I stopped reading this book and read a whole middle grade book to avoid reading this. I had to force myself to finish this book and with 5 minutes left of it last night I went to sleep because I could not make myself to finish the last few pages before turning out the light. I kept getting confused by the timelines of all the characters. Things seemed to need much more time than they were allowed in the plot. Also the motivations behind the crimes committed are still a little foggy to me after finishing the book and skimming the epilogue once more. Not one character is remotely likeable except a horse, and things were just a little too helter skelter for my taste.
