I was drawn to this lock door mystery from the cover and description. I did like the plot line of the book; however, at times, felt a bit lost as the scene jumped from topic to topic without smooth transitions/descriptions. At times, elements of the book felt out of place or thrown in.
I do think the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, and this could have made me feel more invested in the effort to solve Mia’s accident. I wanted to know a bit more about who Mia was, what drew her friends to her, and more about her decisions that led her to where she was in life.
The last quarter of the book did keep me reading, as more of the clues began to be revealed, and pieces fell into place to solve the mystery. I appreciate the author giving a post-solved mystery glimpse into the lives of Agnes and Mia; however do wish there was a tie-up of Zoey, Ethan, Stephanie, and Cameron’s stories.
Overall, I would give this book 3.5/5 stars, and would be interested in reading the authors other works.
Minor: Drug use, Toxic relationship, Violence, Stalking, and Toxic friendship
