A beautiful tribute to what, I'm sure, was a beautiful (and fiercely loved) dog.

Such heart, such humor, so pleasantly heartbreaking. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Michael Urie, and I would highly recommend others enjoy that performance.

There were times that I was confused with this book. I didn't really understand the scenes when they were in a ship. The relationship between Ted and Lily is the ideal picture of man's best friend. I cried. I didn't honestly think I was going to but I did.

Listened to half of this book and couldn’t finish. Not sure if it was the narrator or the crazy story line

*Spoilers ahead*

A cute story about a man and his beloved dog, Lily. But be forewarned, it's clear that the octopus that apparently sits on Lily's head is a metaphor for something more sinister. This is a story about grief, and it's told through the eyes of Lily's owner, Ted. It's raw and will probably make you cry, especially if you're a dog lover. Why did I listen to this every time I walked my dog?

The story itself is a little weird, almost too fantastical for what I expected it to be. The shift in tone and genre had me a little confused at points, but perhaps it's understandable when you're going through unimaginable grief.

If you're a fan of Rowley's work, check this one out.
