I definitely enjoyed this third book of the series. Book two is slightly more fun. This one has a dark element to the plot (CW: FMC manipulated by stranger, and then humiliated publicly ). I found the plot dragged in the snowed-in estate house.

Again absolutely incredible book.
Both Arabella and Alastair were wonderful characters and so fucking deep.
I loved how claustrophobic the house party they crashed was, and the tiny coach they ride in together. Niven writes that kind of atmosphere so well.
I wanted more reconciliation between Arabella's feelings about her mother and also Catherine. I wanted to see inside her head for that.
Contains:
Only one carriage
She has more sexual experience than him
Fake marriage
Performing surgery with your love!

i liked this, and i thought the epilogue was really good, but i wanted a little bit more out of the actual last chapter and i wasn’t obsessed with the conflict(s)

This was my least favourite of the series, purely because I found the main characters a bit annoying.
There’s some great tropes - Regency road trip, virgin MMC, sex lessons, forced proximity, class differences, one-bed etc.
I did like that Arabella was opinionated - particularly about female pleasure - but she was also very stroppy. And Alasdair was sweet but veered the slightest bit towards ‘nice guy’ for me. I didn’t find the sex scenes very sexy 🫤 and I hated that they were ‘in love’ based on an initial ten minute meeting.
There’s also a horrible other character who bizarrelygets appendicitis and is saved by an operation I’m fairly sure would have actually killed him at the time. But he wasn’t a character I had any sympathy for so it was all a bit odd.
