This is a fun read, and it made me wish I had some matriarchs in my life. Ms. Kalb was spot on when she called this a "matrilineal love story." Just warm and a really interesting take on a memoir.
Graphic: Death, Pregnancy, and Abandonment
Moderate: Body shaming, Bullying, Chronic illness, Fatphobia, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Toxic relationship, Medical content, Grief, Death of parent, and Alcohol
Minor: Terminal illness, Antisemitism, and War

Medium paced, but easy to read quickly, this book is a lovely reflection on a life full of personality. While you won't have the same reference points, it feels familiar and you can imagine the equivalent conversations with your own family as you read it.
On that note - if you have a tense or uncomfortable relationship with your own mother/grandmother, I'd probably not recommend this to you. The characters aren't perfect, but in the end there's a lot of love going around, so if your own relationshiops have headed in a different direction it may be a little hard to read.
