3.5 stars rounded up. I listened to this as an audiobook read by the author. I enjoyed hearing about the closeness of the author to her grandmother. Even though it sounded like her grandma could be aggravating sometimes (enough with the nagging about weight already!), their relationship was positive overall and the dialogue was entertaining.

I laughed! I cried! To be honest, I thought the idea of this being written in the grandmother’s voice was sort of odd at first, but I enjoyed the execution. Even better to listen to the audio book narrated by Bess Kalb.

Finished this in one sitting. Bess Kalb is so talented! Laughed, cried (on an airplane) and thought about this for hours after. What a beautiful depiction of matrilineal relationships.

I felt like a part of her family reading this book, the voice was that genuine. I love how she wrote the ending, the part where her grandmother's passing was interwoven with memories from her life. Absolutely love this.

Chicken soup for the soul
This book made me miss my grandma, for which I am horribly mad at the author. It made me miss my grandma so much that I don’t really have any words to say about the book except that it was very good writing and it made me feel less numb than I’ve felt through most of quarantine.
