Disturbing and compelling at once, from the beginning. A sort of hero's journey, darkly, where the treasures are hidden and unknown. The protagonist is strangely relatable, even in her youth/childishness, but in ways that remain elusive and hard to define. Some moments and imagery have stayed with me for months.

Really strong finish to the Triptych. Redonnet's hypnotic prose and the controlled, resonant imagery are used to great effect. All three books (Hotel Splendid, Forever Valley, Rose Mellie Rose) are highly recommended.
