I liked this! It gave me soap opera vibes, in the best of ways. The ending was a bit rushed though. The murder mystery was solved all too quickly

The crime and mystery started to take over the romance plot, which isn't necessarily a problem but wasn't what I expected. It dragged a lot and I skimmed the last 20% because I just wanted to finish it.

I loved the progression of how Hudson and Ellie's relationship was portrayed in this book, my only real fault with this book is I wish Ellie was seen more working on her goal that she had set in the book it felt like it was pushed aside till the end, and I wish I got to see more of the progression of it before the end result.

Would I reread this book? Maybe. Will I read the rest of the series? Maybe. I read the whole book in one afternoon. A Duke who inherited a title that he didn't know he had? A young lady born into high society that just wants to tinker? Sign me up for it.

The Detective Duke is your standard erotic romance. That's what I went looking for, and that's what this book delivered. A marriage of convenience turned into one of love. Hudson is a rough-around-the-edges gentleman who ends up being enamored with his wife, Lady Elysande, and her to him. Throw in a couple of mysteries, and it kept my interest enough that I could get through this book quickly.

As someone who is reading many books in one go because she gets bored (no matter how interesting the book is), finding a book that keeps my interest enough for me to read the whole thing without picking up a different book in one go no less, that's a hard thing to do. I look forward to reading more work by Scarlett Scott.

This one was really good. A bit ott but I’m the best of ways. I loved Hudson and Ellie. What a great pairing. I loved that they had time together before falling in love. I believed their love when it finally happened. Overall, a fun mystery with an emotionally endearing couple and a not too surprising ending.

I really loved Hudson and Elysande's story!!

Hudson Stone, the new Duke Of Wycombe has to marry.. But his marriage will be a marriage of convenience. He doesn't need love. Or so he tells himself. Elysande needs to marry so her sister can marry her love!

Hudson and Elysande marry one another to save the Dukedom and to allow her sister to marry!

Hudson gets called back to London by his friend the Duke Of Northwich letting him know a mastermind criminal has escaped prison (we see this story in Lady Brazen) and Hudson is determined to find him!

Elysande, believes that she's pushed him away with his abrupt departure to London is because of her request to give her 3 months before they consummate their marriage.

Their marriage is put to the test when a woman is found dead in Hudson's bachelor rooms in London, and Elysande is sent for by Hudson's friend.. Through their investigation, they find the true killer! I really love how their marriage of convenience turns into a love match! Their love is gorgeous and fiery!
