Intriguing retelling of Beauty & the Beast. I can't wait to find out what Benella gets herself into next!

I loved this!

This story kept my attention from beginning to end. Not one dull moment. I was thoroughly intrigued by this retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

I'm sorry this book just wasn't for me. I just did not get into it like some people did. I found it to be kind of ridiculous. I couldn't even get past the second chapter.

Overall this was an okay retelling of beauty and the beast. There were aspects I both liked and disliked.

"Adult Romance" should never have a heroine under the age of 18—legal adult age. Enjoyable enough story, but...ew. Doesn't stray far enough from the original source materials to keep me invested. Not interested enough to continue this series. It's not for me.

Also...there's zero romance or emotional development in this way-too-long description of poverty. Just. Why?

An interesting Beauty and the Beast retelling, can be triggering in some ways (S/A)

This first part mostly focused on Benella, her back story, her family, and the village they live in. I wish I had known that before I started reading, because while I did enjoy that part of the story, I kept wondering when we were going to see anything between her and the Beast. They have more interaction towards the end of the book, but even then it's not as much as what I was expecting with the book being so short.

Benella is pretty likeable, I didn't really have any issues with her except that maybe she's a little too easygoing. She sees and experiences a lot of weird shit and kinda just goes about her day after it happens like it's nbd.

We don't see much character from the Beast, we just get that he's kind of an asshole all the time. But again, he's not seen that much in this book so I didnt expect too much for him.

The cover DOES say "part 1", but I still didn't expect it to end as abruptly as it did. It feels very much like the first third of one book (which it is), as opposed to one book in and of itself.

Enjoyable

Really enjoyed Depravity, know it was a retelling of the classic fairytale but this seemed a much darker tale. really liked Benella but wish she would stand up to her two selfish sisters, the beast was interesting and I am looking forward to seeing how Benella's and the beast's relationship Progress's in the next installment a very different read.
