The characters are cardboard and the strange overuse of the word "still" will bring about intense waves of grima by the time you are finished. It reoccurs so often that it becomes impossible to skip over. None of the women have a shred of agency. This is very much a "she breasted boobily" book. They're frequently naked - whether their bodies are stripped and carved out for experimental purposes, born sexy yesterday and therefore oblivious to societal conventions (gotta soak up that sun ayy), or so lost in self-soothing after a traumatic event that they don't realize their nudity embarrasses the party - which wouldn't be so distracting if they had fuller personalities or decision-making capabilities.
Things merely happen these people, and the following emotional explorations fail to breach basic archetypes you'd expect to find in fantasy. Complete with a naturally gifted main character who doesn't know she's beautiful, seasoned readers of this genre might find more novelty and enjoyment elsewhere, like say, in Robin Hobb's work.

dnf @ 68%. decided to give up when i got the libby notification that my loan was due back in 3 days and realized i just didn’t care to finish it. it was so slow and boring the entire time, a lot of worldbuilding and not much else.

I enjoyed reading this for my first real “fantasy” book. Interesting story and enjoyable characters. I didn’t care as much about Rhaif’s character at first so I felt a little bored when reading about him, but I did grow to like him and not mind reading about him as much. Looking forward to seeing if these girls can save the Urth!

Female characters will be naked at least every chapter and male characters will thirst over them creepily. Also weird pseudo-incest stuff
