These letters written by al-Jāḥiẓ were dedicated to Al-Fatḥ ibn Khāqān, the son of a Turkic mercenary general adopted by the Abbasid caliph al-Mu'tasim, in these letters his protégé the scholar al-Jāḥiẓ talks about the merits of the Turks and some other groups in-depth to clear the hostile feelings non-Turks within the Abbasid court had, compiled with stories regarding the Turks he talks about their way of life, their mentality, their character and their way of warfare.
