Last three essays weren’t my fav but the first two memoirs… <3 really gave context for my favorite novels, seeing how much of to the lighthouse was autobiographical based on her relationship with her parents and how much inspiration she took from her disdain for the atmosphere she was raised in for mrs dalloway. Really cool, personal writings from someone whose fiction I love so much. I’ve also adopted the idea of “moments of being” into my lexicon— I used to call these my “Mary Oliver moments.” Moments when you feel alive and full of clarity and in communion with the world— I love that she calls them moments of Being and I will be explaining that to anyone I ever go on a walk with for the rest of time :-)

knew this would be good purely because it's autobiographical work by virginia woolf. and it didn't disappoint, mostly because the writing was as beautiful as her writing usually is. some of it was uncomfortable to read purely because virginia woolf didn't publish these herself or something so it's a bit strange reading someone's private thoughts and memories like that. still, i thought her insight on all that happened to her was valuable to read. i was especially fascinated by the way she approached loss and grief.

For some reason I can't find the short story listing for this one, so I just picked the full one so it can count towards my goodreads goal. Also I listened to this with an audiobook while playing animal crossing...

Gonna be real, I can't even remember this one... I think I kinda liked it tho.
