A continuation in Frank McCourt's life but no where near the fabulous book Angela's Ashes is. I found this one to be less detailed and more like To Sir, With Love with a white Irish guy.

Angela's Ashes was the better book, IMO.

This one is fine, but a little too forced to be entirely honest and credible. Having said that, it's good to find out what happened after. Frank's Adventures in America makes for great reading. Some hilarious anecdotes - I loved the boarding house towel serving all boarders, marked with a black line: one half for above the waist, the other half for everything else.

I felt he was a bit tough on his women, but given the example set by his father, maybe not so much as might have been.

I was astonished that his younger brother Malachy was more famous than he was, and also published a memoir. Two brothers from such an impoverished, uneducated family doing well enough in the USA to have their biographies on the bestseller list!

'Tis is the second book by Frank McCourt, after his NYT #1 bestseller Angela's Ashes.

in this book we follow his life from when he is 19 years old and fresh off the boat. all the way through his adulthood. in the book we follow him again through his struggles and successes, told in the same somewhat sarcastic and unknowing tone of a young man who doesnt know much about the world.

This book was just as amazing as Angela's Ashes in terms of telling a story and giving you a real feel for the man.

I absolutely adored this book. It made me smile, made me frown, made me feel a whole rainbow of emotions. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first novel or who enjoys memoirs of such entertaining and interesting lives.

Coming down from my Angela's Ashes high 'Tis' just doesn't do Frank McCourt justice.
While a very well written book, and an incredible story, after reading Angela's Ashes, I picked up this book with sky high expectations.

Another installment in the life of Frank McCourt. I really found all of his books fascinating even though they are so depressing.

Reading this book was like being there for a friend who is angry, sad, and struggling through a hard time. It’s painful to be around him, and you would never put up with all this from just anyone, but you know he deserves your support based on the emotional connection you formed earlier on.
