“I close my eyes and I can still see his ruggedly handsome face. His eyes looking into mine. I love you, Brooke. That was what he said to me just a few hours before he tried to kill me. And that’s not even the worst thing he did.”

The Inmate follows Brooke who is a nurse. She’s recently taken a new nursing job at a local prison. The kicker is that one of the inmate’s she’ll now have to treat is her childhood sweetheart, and he’s in prison because of her testimony.

I loved the premise of this one. I overall had a good time with it, but did find the writing and character’s dialogue a bit lacking. This was very much written in a “tell not show” manner and I felt like a lot was repetitive. The main character Brooke is a little insufferable. She was constantly putting herself in compromising situations. 😫 Final reveal was a bit far fetched but for a quick thriller it was good! Ending leaves it open for a possible sequel 👀

Gripping, tense, & mysterious. Nothing is as it seems, I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Brooke was told not to get close to the inmates at her new job as nurse practitioner at a prison but what her new boss doesn’t know is one of the prisoners are there because of her.

This book was so amazing! Just when I thought I knew who the bad guy was a huge twist would happen and it’s change! So crazy! I didn’t know what story to believe or what was the true story! And I loved every second of it!

Holy Crap on a Cracker!  Unbelievably good book.  Freida McFadden is such a good psychological thriller writer.  There were some hints in this one that were great red herrings.  How she came up with those twists, I will never know.  I read this book in half a day.  So good!  Not much else I can say because I don't want to give anything away.  If you like psychological thrillers, I highly recommend you read this book.  Heck read all her books!  They have been good the ones I read.

😊 Happy Reading 😊
